Living Here

The living in Greater Dalton is easy with access to big city amenities, but freedom from daily hassles of traffic, noise and pollution. We prefer fireflies and crickets to honking horns and bus exhaust.

Our housing stock is ample, and runs the gamut from funky downtown lofts to suburban family-friendly neighborhoods to luxurious golf course living to breathtaking mountain-top retreats. Our technology infrastructure is comparable and even superior to much larger cities, so with the click of a mouse, we can be linked to someone across town or across the world instantaneously.

We have abundant resources to keep us well and fit, and public officials are unusually responsive to community needs.

“In 2004 we had the choice of moving here or staying in Dallas, Texas. With five children in grades K - 10 when we made that decision, it was not something we considered lightly. Obviously we moved here and have not regretted that decision. We were and we continue to be impressed by the people; the people in Dalton are warm and welcoming, willing to give a hand or give advice; they give of themselves in a number of areas, from their neighborhood to their church to their school and to their community programs. For a community of its size Dalton has a lot to offer - a college, a regional hospital, a strong economic base, youth activities and programs, beautiful scenery, the ambience of a small town with the amenities of a much larger community. We have been pleased with the Dalton public schools and believe that a child can be challenged with courses which will prepare them for any college in the country. Is Dalton perfect? No, but such a place only exists in our imaginations. Dalton is facing many issues as a result of its growth. But its involved citizens tackle the problems and works on creative, realistic solutions. We are happy to be here.”
